  1. I have had the Sea-Doo XP limited since July last year and it is simply awesome. I have raced loads of other ski's on it and I have never been beat on it, either by speed or handling. It has 140 bhp (aprox, and can tear up water like it's not even there). It truly is a fast amazing ski. I WOULD RECOMMEND ONE TO ANYONE..NOT FOR THE LIGHT HEARTED!

  2. I JUST BOUGHT THIS LAST YEAR AND THIS SKI IS A BAD MACHINE!! BASICALLY, I CAN PULL TO WAKE BOARDERS AT AT 50 MPH MAYBE MORE? I WILL NEVER SELL THIS SKI!!! I STRONGLY SUGGEST BUYING A 1998 OR 1999 XP LIMITED OR IF YOU CAN FIND ONE, AN XPDI!

  3. I bought mine used in 2002 and have been using it every year on the Colorado and various lakes and rivers in the southwest (AZ, CA, NV) and it still handles like the champ. Acceleration out of the hole has slowed since my impeller has been damaged but before that I could beat a kawasaki 1100 ZXI. Turning is where this boat excels, on a turn, especially hard turns the front end comes down into the water instead of out, making it easier to control. The only problem is when I am riding in rough water like at the lake with a lot of boats in Havasu and Mojave, the boat tends to get out of the water and thrown a bit. Perfect for the Colorado River where you can find your spot and do your thing. Our usual spot is close to the Avi Casino (where we stay) in Laughlin, it's got great room rates, own ramp and beach area, very well suited for my wife and kids.

  4. I have an xp limited. It's the best. There is nothing like the reliable and dependable Seadoo. While other reviews may contradict this, any discrepencies can be cleared up simply. IT'S ALL ABOUT MAINTAINENCE. You have to be one with your machine. Love it,live it, ride it, if you treat it fantastic- the machine will be fantastic. If you beat it and don't take care of it , it will not be as fantastic. It's all about the love. "EVERBODY IS DOING IT -SEADOO

  5. This is one of the best handling ski's available. It is pretty quick and has a very good stock top speed (about 60-62mph). This ski is not for someone who wants to just gas and go though. Because it is a high performance ski it does have some issues that you need to be aware of. First of all, it tends to be a little tippy compared to some of the larger skis. This is great for carving, but it makes it difficult for some people to stay on if you are larger or have two people on the ski. It is also difficult to re-board with two people in open water if you are not very coordinated. Because of this, people tend to flip them over and fill them up with water. When you try to start it with water in the engine it can cause the many problems you may have heard of with the 951 engines. (i.e. having to buy new engines due to water ingestion). Because water does not compress, it has nowhere to go and damages the engine. By simply pulling the spark plugs and turning over the engine to pump the water out of the cylinders, those problems would be avoided. The issues with the trim system not working are also caused by water entering the VTS (trim system) motor. If you don't flip the ski, you don't have these problems. Seadoo has updated the newer XP's to help prevent these issues, but you can do certain things to help water intrusion such as relocating the air hoses and making sure the hood has a good seal. For more info on how to properly maintain you ski, read your owners manual. With the information from your manual you can have a very fun and reliable XP! I love my XP Limited (it's a '98) and wouldn't trade it for another ski. There is nothing else out there that rides like it. It rides like a crotch rocket on the water. It has so much bottom end torque that it can jump it's own wake from a stand still and it can do a great tail stand! There may be a few ski's that are slightly faster on the top end (Kawi Ultra, RXP, Yamaha GP1300R), but none of them have the same combination of fast acceleration, great handling, and value. The only ski that might come close would be the Honda R12-X, but when you ride the two I prefer the XP because of the stock seat (it lowers your center of gravity so you can turn better and it is easier on the rider for long rides) and its looks. I just wish it came stock with better mats and a finger throttle.

  6. I have a '99 Sea-Doo XP and have had it for 3 years. I was taking well care of it and soon after I bought it the trim system quit working. I have done research on it and it seems they never work long and people are fixing them all the time. About a month ago the motor started knocking very bad. It seems the motor got water in it and now I need a new short block which costs a couple grand. This machine is only 5 years old and I have had nothing but problems. I guess motor problems are very common with the 951 motor.
